Project Paathshala is a unique school transformation program that was inspired and triggered by the efforts of a community of parents. This is a ‘ One-School, One- Village’ school development model that was designed keeping in mind the needs of a specific school, based in rural Uttarakhand. The school is located close to the hilly Lodsi village. Paathshala is the result of a unique CSR initiative led by the reputed luxury Ayurveda brand Forest Essentials that has been an integral part of the economic growth of that region for over two decades now.Based on the inputs by the local community of that village, Forest Essentials felt the need to strengthen the local school with a new and improved learning environment. SEF has come on board as the implementation partner for this initiative and will run and manage the project for the academic year beginning July 2016.The program will essentially focus on two tracks – an after-school learning center that will work towards improving the academic outcomes and the second will be a teacher training model that improves teaching quality and builds on instructional leadership. The vision of Paathshala is to build an exemplar school model, where the school team is empowered to take ownership & redefine teaching & learning for their students, and the community is also engaged to partake in the process of school transformation.
